Regulatory Obstacles and Legal Challenges Push Back RedotPay's Planned US IPO: Sources
The planned US IPO for RedotPay faces postponement while navigating regulatory approval processes, despite the firm announcing acquisition of a money transmitter license in the United States.

The stablecoin payment platform RedotPay has experienced a setback in its ambitions to make a debut on the US stock market, according to recent reports, as the company works toward establishing operations within the United States.
According to a Bloomberg report published on Friday, which cited sources with knowledge of the situation, the firm has postponed its initial public offering (IPO) plans in the US as it navigates the regulatory approval process and deals with ongoing legal conflicts that involve Binance.
When approached by Cointelegraph regarding the IPO timeline, a representative from RedotPay chose not to provide specific comments. However, the representative emphasized the company's expansion efforts in the United States, confirming that RedotPay successfully acquired a money transmitter license in the US during the current week and is actively preparing to introduce its product to the American market.
This reported postponement arrives on the heels of a lawsuit totaling nearly $473 million that has been filed by Binance-affiliated entities and occurs as RedotPay endeavors to broaden its regulatory presence across the US and additional international markets.
February marked the emergence of RedotPay's IPO plans
The Hong Kong-headquartered RedotPay, which was established in 2023, initially appeared on the radar as a prospective candidate for US public market entry during February, when initial reports indicated the company was evaluating the possibility of pursuing a listing in New York.
According to reports, RedotPay has engaged the services of JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs and Jefferies Financial Group to facilitate a public listing that could potentially generate over $1 billion in capital. During that period, the company was pursuing a corporate valuation exceeding $4 billion.
In a separate development, RedotPay has allegedly engaged in discussions to secure as much as $150 million through new funding rounds while simultaneously implementing organizational restructuring and making preparations for a possible IPO. In a statement provided to Cointelegraph during March, RedotPay explained, "As we transition from an early-stage startup to a unicorn, we are evolving our organizational structure and talent pool to support our ongoing growth trajectory."
Legal complications intensify with Binance litigation
Earlier in August, affiliates of Binance initiated legal proceedings against the founders of RedotPay in Hong Kong, pursuing damages approaching $473 million based on accusations that they redirected hundreds of thousands of customers away from Binance toward RedotPay.
According to the plaintiffs' claims, the founders of RedotPay exploited confidential information that they had gained access to during their prior employment with Binance to establish a rival payments enterprise and successfully attract users away from Binance. In response to these allegations, RedotPay firmly rejected the accusations and informed Cointelegraph that it intends to "vigorously defend all claims."
The legal conflict has additionally extended into Singapore, where disagreement exists between Binance and RedotPay concerning the status of an associated legal case. Earlier this week, RedotPay communicated to Cointelegraph that it anticipated Binance would withdraw the case, whereas Binance disputed this characterization and affirmed that its legal claims continue to remain active.
