Major fee restructuring proposal advances as PancakeSwap TVL surges past $380M

A comprehensive fee restructuring plan at PancakeSwap aims to allocate 88% of trading fees to liquidity providers while reducing CAKE token emissions by 69%, coinciding with growing DeFi engagement on BNB Chain.

The total value locked (TVL) on decentralized exchange platform PancakeSwap expanded by almost 19% throughout the previous week, incorporating approximately $380 million in additional capital as the platform advances toward implementing significant changes to its fee distribution mechanism for those providing liquidity.

Data from DefiLlama indicates that PancakeSwap's TVL reached $2.4 billion by Wednesday, marking an increase from approximately $2.02 billion recorded on Oct. 14. This expansion was primarily driven by activity within its V3 liquidity pools, where TVL experienced a more than twofold increase to roughly $739 million compared to $336 million during the identical timeframe.

This surge in TVL aligned with PancakeSwap initiating a community governance vote on an initiative dubbed "The Flip," which seeks to elevate the portion of swap fees allocated to liquidity providers on V3 and Infinity pools to 88%, representing an increase from the current 66%-68% allocation on the majority of pools.

Additionally, the initiative would implement a gradual reduction of daily CAKE token emissions by roughly 69%, decreasing from 22,500 to 7,000 tokens. The voting process commenced on Wednesday, Oct. 21, and is scheduled to continue through Oct. 24, with the implementation phase anticipated to launch in November should the proposal receive approval.

PancakeSwap leads BNB Chain trading as tokenized stocks expand

Over the preceding seven-day period, PancakeSwap was responsible for roughly $4.67 billion in decentralized exchange transaction volume on BNB Chain, comprising approximately 71% of the network's aggregate volume, based on DeFiLlama data. Additionally, the network serves as the home for the majority of PancakeSwap's liquidity, encompassing approximately $2.33 billion of its total $2.40 billion TVL.

This trading activity occurs alongside widespread expansion throughout BNB Chain's broader DeFi ecosystem. The network's TVL increased by roughly 8.3% during the past seven days, reaching $5.84 billion, as reported by DeFiLlama. Transaction volume on decentralized exchanges also experienced a substantial surge of 40.2% to $6.54 billion throughout the identical timeframe, despite the fact that its stablecoin market capitalization experienced a modest decline of 0.6% to $13.1 billion.

Extending beyond cryptocurrency assets, BNB Chain has additionally witnessed expansion in the tokenized equities sector, a marketplace where PancakeSwap maintains an established foothold. The decentralized exchange platform introduced support for Binance's bStocks product in June, enabling users to conduct trades involving tokenized US stock securities through blockchain technology.

On Oct. 15, Binance made an announcement that bStocks exceeded $1 billion in assets under management, reaching this milestone roughly four months following its initial launch. The firm disclosed more than $40 billion in aggregate trading volume and indicated that 11.2% of bStocks' total value had been allocated to DeFi applications as of early October.
