LSE Plans After-Hours Trading Platform for 2027 Launch: Financial Times

As cryptocurrency exchanges and tokenized equity platforms continue to provide continuous trading services, traditional stock markets are adapting by extending their operating hours to remain competitive.

The London Stock Exchange has set its sights on introducing an after-hours trading platform during the initial six months of 2027, becoming part of an expanding roster of international exchanges that are either offering or developing nearly continuous trading capabilities.

Based on reporting from the Financial Times, the new LSE platform will function as a distinct entity from its primary marketplace and will be available for trading between 5:00 pm and 7:50 am London time. During its initial phase, the platform will provide traders with access to exchange-traded products, including those that follow the performance of UK or US equity markets.

Trading on the primary marketplace will remain unchanged, continuing to operate during its conventional hours from 8:00 am through 4:30 pm.

In an interview with the FT, LSE CEO Julia Hoggett explained that there was growing demand from retail investors "to use London, given our particular timezone, to gain exposure to not only UK assets but global assets."
