IREN Stock Surges 16% Following Increase in AI Cloud Revenue Projection Beyond $4 Billion

Cryptocurrency mining firm IREN increased its artificial intelligence cloud services revenue projection to over $4 billion following the execution of $2.8 billion worth of fresh agreements, propelling stock prices approximately 14% upward.

Shares of cryptocurrency mining company IREN experienced an increase of approximately 15.7% during Monday's trading session after the firm announced an upward revision of its year-end artificial intelligence cloud annualized run-rate revenue projection to exceed $4 billion, a move that came on the heels of securing $2.8 billion worth of new multi-year cloud services agreements with artificial intelligence development companies.

According to the company's announcement, approximately 85% of its updated annualized artificial intelligence cloud revenue projection is currently secured through contractual agreements, with its client roster featuring major technology players such as Microsoft, Nvidia, Perplexity and Figure AI.

The CoinShares Bitcoin Mining ETF (WGMI) experienced gains of 9.61% while other companies in the mining sector also registered moderate increases in share value, based on data from Yahoo Finance. Within this sector-focused exchange-traded fund, IREN stock represents the fourth-largest position, accounting for 10.05% of total assets under management.

According to Co-CEO Daniel Roberts, IREN has set objectives to provide 480 megawatts of artificial intelligence cloud capacity during 2026, representing a significant expansion from approximately 3 MW recorded a year prior, with ambitions to reach 1.2 gigawatts by 2027.

The company indicated that customer demand originating from hyperscalers, enterprise clients and artificial intelligence developers continues to surpass both the company's currently available and projected future capacity. IREN also noted that recent contractual arrangements with customers include prepayment structures that cover approximately 45% of the related GPU capital expenditures, thereby decreasing the funding requirements necessary for those infrastructure deployments.

This latest development comes after Bernstein's analysis in April which projected that IREN's artificial intelligence cloud operations would emerge as its principal revenue generation source as the organization repurposes its cryptocurrency mining infrastructure for artificial intelligence computing applications, representing part of a wider industry trend of Bitcoin mining companies diversifying their operations into AI and high-performance computing sectors.
