Ether's 23% Drop Drives SharpLink's $394M Q2 Loss

The second-largest Ether treasury company, SharpLink, disclosed a $394 million net loss for Q2 2026, primarily attributed to a 23% drop in Ethereum's price throughout the quarter.

SharpLink, which maintains the position of second-largest corporate holder of Ether, disclosed a $394 million net loss during the second quarter of 2026, a significant increase compared to the $103 million net loss recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

The financial setback encompassed $321 million attributed to unrealized losses on cryptocurrency holdings and an additional $76 million in impairment charges related to staked Ether (ETH) tokens, the company revealed in an announcement released on Monday.

The Florida-based Ether treasury firm, headquartered in Miami, disclosed revenues of $11.5 million for the quarter, with $11.1 million of that total derived from ETH staking activities. The company's cash and cash equivalents reached $56 million, representing an increase from the $28 million balance reported in December 2025.

The company's portfolio includes 632,784 Ether valued at $1.2 billion, along with an additional 181,321 ETH worth $343 million held in various liquid staked Ether tokens, creating significant exposure to price fluctuations of the world's second-largest cryptocurrency. During the second quarter of 2026, Ether experienced approximately a 23% decline in value, based on CoinMarketCap data.

After an eight-month hiatus from purchasing activity, SharpLink restarted its Ether acquisition strategy with a $7.8 million purchase executed in late June. The company followed up with an additional acquisition of 10,000 Ether for approximately $16 million just days afterward.

Shares of SharpLink declined 3.9% during Monday's trading session, furthering the company's 30% year-to-date stock price decrease, based on information from Yahoo Finance data.

The firm maintains its ranking as the second-largest corporate Ether treasury company, holding a total of approximately 863,000 ETH with a current valuation of $1.46 billion. The top position belongs to Bitmine, which controls 5.54 million ETH valued at $9.4 billion, based on information from StrategicEthReserve data.
