Blockchain.com Obtains Cayman Islands Custody Permit Following European MiCA and UK FCA Registrations
The cryptocurrency services provider Blockchain.com has obtained a virtual asset service provider custody permit from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, broadening its regulatory footprint for digital asset services across the territory.
The cryptocurrency services platform Blockchain.com has obtained a virtual asset service provider (VASP) permit from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority that authorizes the company to deliver custody services for digital assets.
The permit, which was granted on July 22, 2026, enables the digital currency platform to deliver regulated cryptocurrency custody solutions within the Cayman Islands jurisdiction, based on a Thursday statement that Cointelegraph examined. The authorization came after CIMA issued a preliminary approval in December 2025.
Under the terms of the permit, Blockchain.com is also authorized to facilitate crypto-to-fiat currency exchanges as well as crypto-to-crypto trading services. Since May 2022, the platform has maintained a VASP registration status in the Cayman Islands.
Co-CEO Lane Kasselman of Blockchain.com stated that the CIMA permit represents a continuation of the platform's recent achievements in meeting regulatory requirements, which include securing a Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation permit in Europe and completing registration procedures with the UK Financial Conduct Authority.
