Bank Leumi Partners with Galaxy Digital to Launch Crypto Trading for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana

Starting early 2027, Israel's Bank Leumi will enable its customers to purchase, store, and trade three leading digital currencies via its mobile investment platform.

Bank Leumi of Israel has entered into a strategic partnership with Galaxy Digital, enabling its client base to engage in trading activities for Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and Solana (SOL) via the bank's digital investment platform. The launch of this service is anticipated to occur in early 2027.

In an announcement made on Friday, the two organizations revealed that clients of both Leumi and its mobile banking subsidiary, Pepper, will gain access to purchase, store, and trade these three digital currencies through a specialized segment within the Leumi Trade application. According to statements from Leumi and Galaxy, this deployment will position Leumi as the inaugural Israeli banking institution to provide digital asset trading capabilities directly to its customer base.

For the execution of trading operations and associated services, Leumi will leverage GalaxyOne Institutional, while the bank's digital asset infrastructure will be supported by Galaxy's custody infrastructure platform, which was previously identified as GK8.

Bank Leumi indicated that its customer base spans millions of users throughout its retail banking and business banking divisions.

This collaboration follows Galaxy's disclosure of an $85 million net loss during the second quarter, which the company primarily attributed to the downward trend in digital asset valuations. Notwithstanding this loss, the company's digital assets business segment produced $66 million in adjusted gross profit, representing a 34% increase compared to the preceding quarter.

Galaxy Digital, which was established and continues to be headed by Mike Novogratz, commenced trading on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker symbol GLXY in May 2025. During Friday morning trading sessions, its stock was valued at $21.38, reflecting an approximately 2% gain for the day while experiencing a decline of roughly 25% over the past twelve-month period, based on data provided by Yahoo Finance.
