Sophon Issues Final Warning: Users Must Exit Before Nov. 25 Mainnet Termination
The blockchain platform Sophon is urging all users to retrieve their digital assets prior to the Nov. 25 network closure, after which any remaining funds may be lost forever.

The blockchain network Sophon has established Nov. 25 as the final date for account holders to remove their digital holdings in advance of its impending mainnet termination, which comes after the platform revealed in June that it would discontinue its Ethereum layer-2 blockchain network and transition its operations to Base.
In an announcement made Monday, Sophon disclosed that it will commence the decommissioning of essential infrastructure and associated web platforms on Nov. 25, and any digital holdings remaining on the Sophon Chain face the possibility of being irretrievably lost.
The development team has urged account holders to remove any Sophon (SOPH), Ether (ETH), USDC (USDC) and additional digital assets, and to collect any pending staking or Guardian rewards that remain unclaimed.
Sophon initially debuted as a zero-knowledge-powered layer-2 blockchain platform with a concentration on consumer-oriented applications, encompassing gaming, entertainment and AI technologies. This past June, the project's development team stated that the expenses associated with operating a standalone blockchain network no longer warranted its advantages and revealed their intention to concentrate on consumer finance and AI applications through Base.
The closure mirrors a comparable decision from Abstract, the consumer-oriented Ethereum layer-2 blockchain platform created by Igloo, the parent company behind Pudgy Penguins. Abstract revealed on Oct. 6 that it would cease operations on Dec. 15, after Igloo experienced losses amounting to tens of millions of dollars in its efforts to sustain the network.
Cointelegraph had previously documented that Sophon secured $60 million via a node sale in 2024, which came after a distinct $10 million funding round.
