Circle Expands Market Dominance as Securitize's Tokenized Equity Drops by Half

The onchain valuation of SECZ plummeted to $208.6 million while tokens associated with Circle climbed to a collective $383.6 million from multiple issuers within the $3.3 billion market for tokenized equities.

Tokenized equity representing Securitize (SECZ) has experienced a dramatic decline, shedding more than fifty percent of its value within a span of less than thirty days, while industry frontrunner Circle (CRCL) continues to extend its market advantage.

According to data from Token Terminal, the onchain market capitalization of SECZ tokens dropped from a peak of $430.4 million recorded on Sept. 28 to $208.6 million as of Sunday. Meanwhile, the company's shares trading on the New York Stock Exchange finished Friday's session with a 2.1% decline at $7.80 per share, representing a total market capitalization of $1.27 billion.

Circle-tracking tokens have experienced approximately 20% growth in their market capitalization since Sept. 28, climbing to $383.6 million and securing the leading position within the $3.3 billion market for tokenized equities.

The decrease in tokenized SECZ value occurred in parallel with a significant selloff of Securitize's traditional stock listings on the NYSE, which eliminated the positive momentum that had built up after the company's Oct. 8 introduction of its Solana-based stock trading platform. On Oct. 13, investment banking firm Citi revised its rating on SECZ from Buy to Neutral, citing worries surrounding tokenization revenue streams.

Securitize provides services to asset management firms, including BlackRock, enabling them to issue securities through blockchain technology. When the company completed its July 2 listing on the NYSE, it simultaneously introduced its common shares to blockchain networks, establishing itself as the dominant tokenized equity offering at that point in time.

While SECZ maintains its position as the single largest tokenized stock offering, Circle's aggregate market value is distributed among various products from multiple token issuers. Among these offerings, Binance's CRCLb token operating on BNB Chain commands the largest share at $154.1 million.
