Fairshake PAC Targets Sherrod Brown's Senate Comeback With $30M Campaign: Report

According to recent reports, the cryptocurrency-backed Fairshake PAC is preparing to allocate $30 million toward defeating Sherrod Brown's attempt to reclaim his Ohio Senate seat in 2026, a race that could determine which party controls the upper chamber.

The political action committee known as Fairshake, which receives substantial financial backing from major cryptocurrency firms including Coinbase and Ripple Labs, is setting aside $30 million to challenge Democrat Sherrod Brown's campaign to secure a return to the United States Senate.

According to a statement provided to Cointelegraph, Fairshake representative Geoff Vetter validated the New York Times' report indicating that the PAC had earmarked $30 million in initial spending to oppose Brown's 2026 campaign to serve as Ohio's Senate representative. Vetter indicated that the organization anticipated revealing further expenditure plans in advance of the midterm elections scheduled for Nov. 3.

During the 2024 election cycle, Fairshake allocated approximately $41 million toward supporting Republican candidate Bernie Moreno while simultaneously campaigning against Brown in the Ohio senator's reelection effort. Brown, who had served as chair of the Senate Banking Committee during the period of Democratic majority control, was defeated by Moreno by a margin of approximately four percentage points in 2024 after Fairshake and additional PACs collectively spent over $300 million on the race.

This political action committee represents merely one component of a broader network of cryptocurrency industry-affiliated organizations seeking to shape electoral outcomes in critical contests leading up to 2026, when both the House of Representatives and Senate majorities will be decided. According to data from Monday, numerous event contracts listed on prediction market platforms such as Kalshi were favoring Democrats to recapture majority status in both the House and the Senate.

While Cointelegraph contacted Brown's campaign seeking comment, no immediate reply was forthcoming. Though Vetter refused to provide details regarding the PAC's tactical approach for the upcoming midterm elections, he revealed in August that the organization had accumulated a $122 million war chest in preparation for the electoral contests ahead.
