Cloudflare unveils AI agent wallet system with future stablecoin payment integration

Cloudflare has opened registration for wallet handles and announced that upcoming releases will enable AI agents to purchase APIs and digital content through stablecoin micropayments.

On Tuesday, Cloudflare unveiled Cloudflare Wallets, a programmable wallet solution specifically built for artificial intelligence (AI) agents that is designed to facilitate stablecoin payments.

In a blog post, the cloud infrastructure provider based in the United States explained that the product seeks to streamline the process by which AI agents authenticate their identity and make purchases for application programming interfaces (API) and digital content using stablecoin micropayments, facilitating what the company describes as "agentic commerce."

According to Cloudflare, users have the ability to register for a Cloudflare Wallet handle right away, though the payment functionality will be made available at a later date.

The organization intends to connect the wallets with its newly revealed Monetization Gateway, which leverages Coinbase's x402 protocol to facilitate stablecoin micropayments.

Stablecoin micropayments via x402 will make it simple to try an API without an account, allowing agents to test new options with little friction.

He further stated that the wallets will additionally enable users to hold stablecoins and accept payments throughout the web.

Cointelegraph reached out to Cloudflare seeking comment regarding the rollout timeline and additional details but had not received a response by publication.
