Washington's Increasingly Adversarial Stance Toward Nvidia Expected: Analysis

The semiconductor giant Nvidia could encounter increased Washington hostility following the election

The semiconductor manufacturer Nvidia and its CEO Jensen Huang may not benefit from their connections to President Donald Trump when it comes to avoiding increased Washington hostility during the post-election period, a report from Semafor indicates.

Despite the fact that victorious Democrats are preparing to assume leadership positions on regulatory committees, Republican lawmakers are simultaneously working to strengthen export controls targeting semiconductor chips.

According to Semafor's Friday report, three members of the Republican House have requested that Huang participate in a briefing regarding questions about whether a Chinese intelligence agent had targeted him.

Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat, is seeking to have Huang provide testimony to Congress regarding Nvidia's semiconductor sales to China along with additional related issues, the Semafor report noted.

In March, Cointelegraph published a report stating that Trump had named executives from the cryptocurrency, blockchain, artificial intelligence and technology sectors to serve on his Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, with Nvidia CEO Huang among those appointed

Prior to this appointment, Huang had engaged in discussions with the president concerning export control regulations affecting Nvidia's semiconductor chips.
