US Customers Can Now Use Cash App Pay for Crypto Buying on MoonPay

MoonPay's integration with Cash App Pay enables qualified US customers to purchase cryptocurrencies using their Cash App balance, marking another step in the payment company's expansion strategy.

The cryptocurrency payments platform MoonPay has rolled out Cash App Pay integration as a new payment method for digital currency acquisitions, enabling qualified customers in the United States to complete transactions by utilizing their existing Cash App balances.

In a statement provided to Cointelegraph on Tuesday, the digital asset payments firm revealed that Cash App Pay functionality is currently accessible via MoonPay's native checkout system and through selected partner platforms, which include Trust Wallet, Bitcoin.com, MetaMask, Moonshot, Ledger, BitPay, Uniswap, Tangem, LOBSTR and Edge.

Through this integration, users can leverage their existing Cash App balance to purchase cryptocurrencies directly via MoonPay's platform without the need to toggle between different applications or go through additional authentication procedures.

The payment options now supported by MoonPay include integrations with Cash App, PayPal and Venmo, with PayPal being incorporated in 2024 and Venmo support following subsequently.

Cash App, the digital payments platform run by Block, the company founded by Jack Dorsey, currently enables its user base to purchase and sell Bitcoin natively within its application. By integrating with MoonPay, this capability extends to encompass a more comprehensive selection of digital currencies. According to Block's shareholder report for the second quarter, Cash App had registered 59 million active users as of June.

Cash App is where tens of millions of Americans already manage their money. This integration means that those users can access the digital asset ecosystem, funded instantly from an app they already know and trust.

Expansion beyond crypto onramps

MoonPay holds licensing from the New York State Department of Financial Services via both a BitLicense and Limited Purpose Trust Charter, and has received authorization under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation framework of the European Union within the Netherlands.

Throughout 2026, the company has been actively pursuing acquisitions as part of its strategy to diversify beyond its core fiat-to-cryptocurrency onramp operations. The acquisition of DFlow, a provider of trading infrastructure for Solana, took place in May, coming after an April transaction for Sodot, a cryptocurrency security company, as MoonPay advances its push into institutional-grade crypto service offerings.

During July, the company completed the acquisition of Glide, a startup specializing in cross-chain infrastructure, and introduced PayBox, a secure vault solution that enables users of ChatGPT and Claude to approve cryptocurrency transactions while maintaining full custody over their digital assets.
