Target stores nationwide to stock Pudgy Penguins trading cards in major retail push

In a significant move toward mainstream retail presence, the popular NFT franchise launches its Vibes Series 3 trading card collection at Target locations throughout the U.S., marking its continued expansion into tangible consumer products.

Pudgy Penguins, a prominent non-fungible token (NFT) initiative, has broadened its trading card game's retail presence through a coast-to-coast distribution partnership with Target outlets across the United States.

Based on information from a press release provided to Cointelegraph, Vibes Series 3 represents the game's most extensive retail deployment yet and pushes the cumulative number of distributed cards to 15 million. This latest collection introduces enhanced gameplay features, fresh artistic designs and incorporates characters from the Moonbirds collection.

This retail expansion demonstrates Pudgy Penguins' strategy of transforming its NFT-originated intellectual property into conventional consumer merchandise as the project works toward establishing a more comprehensive entertainment brand that extends past digital collectibles.

The Vibes card game was created by Pudgy Penguins in collaboration with Orange Cap Games, with Series 3 representing the third installment following two previous editions. The digital collectible initiative ranks as the fourth-largest NFT collection based on market capitalization, per information from data tracking platform NFT Price Floor.

Pudgy Penguins builds beyond NFTs

The initiative has additionally branched out into playthings, video games, brand licensing and various other consumer merchandise categories.

Over several years, Pudgy Penguins has worked to transform its Ethereum-based NFT portfolio into a more extensive consumer-facing brand. Physical toy versions of the characters made their way into over 2,000 Walmart retail locations during 2023, and according to CEO Luca Netz's statement in May 2024, sales of these toys surpassed 1 million units during the previous 12-month period.

Additionally, the initiative's licensing framework enables NFT holders to collect 5% of net revenue generated from physical merchandise that showcases their specific penguin characters.

The brand has pursued comparable growth through the gaming sector. During 2025, Pudgy Penguins introduced the skill-oriented Pengu Clash game on The Open Network. When it launched, Netz characterized gaming as a mechanism for exposing the project's intellectual property to broader audience segments.

A mobile gaming application called Pudgy Party was also released in August 2025. Based on data from Pudgy Penguins, the application's downloads surpassed 1 million. Nevertheless, the project announced on Monday its decision to discontinue additional development of the game and redirect its resources toward a browser-based gaming experience called Pudgy World.
