Stand With Crypto Backs Political Hopefuls Ahead of Upcoming Midterm Elections

Stand With Crypto has revealed its selection of political candidates with slightly more than two months remaining before the US general election, as part of a campaign to "elect the most pro-crypto Congress in history."

An advocacy organization established by Coinbase in 2023, Stand With Crypto, has thrown its support behind 32 candidates seeking House of Representatives positions in advance of the 2026 US midterm elections, with selections based on the candidates' positions regarding digital asset policy.

According to a Monday announcement, Stand With Crypto revealed that its roster of 32 candidates for the 2026 midterm elections represents part of a broader strategy to shape digital asset policy at the federal level. The advocacy group stated that it had backed politicians who demonstrated themselves as "proven digital asset policy champions," while also focusing on competitive electoral contests "where Stand With Crypto advocate numbers are most likely to influence outcomes."

"Crypto Voters have become a durable, motivated voting bloc, which has the potential to swing key congressional races in the midterms," said Stand With Crypto executive director Mason Lynaugh, adding:

"The midterms come at a key inflection point for crypto policy in Washington, D.C. As candidates from both parties are trying to reach voters outside of more traditional constituencies, they overlook Crypto Voters at their own peril."

This development arrives as certain analysts anticipate that crypto policy may emerge as a potential swing issue for voters in numerous tight electoral contests. Stand With Crypto revealed six candidates for its initial round of endorsements in March — three Republicans and three Democrats — each of whom successfully progressed from their primaries to participate in the November election.

Throughout the 2024 election cycle, various organizations and political action committees (PACs) with backing from crypto companies invested upwards of $170 million in support of candidates they believed would favor the industry, with many of those candidates ultimately prevailing in their races. Stand With Crypto reported that over 270 "pro-crypto" candidates secured seats in Congress in 2025, creating the potential to influence voting on legislation such as the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for US Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act.

CLARITY vote still waiting for Senate's return

The composition of the upcoming US Congress in both chambers could potentially determine whether a comprehensive crypto market structure bill is enacted into law. While the House successfully passed the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act with support from both parties in July 2025, the Senate's review of the legislation has been characterized by debates surrounding ethics, tokenization and stablecoin rewards.

CLARITY has been scheduled for a cloture motion following the Senate's return from recess on Sept. 15, though the chamber will only be in session for 14 days before breaking ahead of the November election. Following the midterms, the Senate will have an additional 22 days before 2027 to send the bill back to the House, at which point it could then proceed to the president's desk for final approval.

In the previous week, President Donald Trump appeared alongside multiple crypto CEOs and executives, calling on the Senate to approve a "fair version" of CLARITY. Nonetheless, the Trump family's financial connections to the industry may present complications for a potential vote, with a majority of Americans indicating in a recent poll that the crypto investments are not "appropriate."
