Shanghai Solana Conference Delayed After Overwhelming Registration Numbers, Says Foundation Chief Liu
The president of Solana Foundation, Lily Liu, revealed that registration numbers increased fourfold in a single night, surpassing the maximum capacity reported to municipal officials.

After pre-registration numbers surpassed the maximum attendance threshold established with municipal authorities, the Shanghai edition of Solana Accelerate has been delayed, according to an announcement from Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation.
Following promotional efforts for the conference, event sign-ups increased by four times within a single night, Liu explained in an X platform post published on Friday, noting that event planners chose to delay the gathering in order to "comply with local requirements."
Prior to this announcement on Friday, users of the X platform alleged that the conference had been "abruptly suspended" after law enforcement personnel were positioned at the event location.
Back in October 2025, a Solana conference held in Shenzhen was similarly shortened prematurely owing to limitations on venue capacity and concerns regarding public safety, as the Solana Chinese-language community account disclosed at that time on X.
The Shanghai stop was meant to kick off Solana's four-city Accelerate China tour, with subsequent events planned for Hangzhou on Sunday, Shenzhen on Tuesday and Beijing on Thursday, as outlined on the event's official website.
The delay came after Solana leadership had promoted the establishment of a new Shanghai office earlier in the week.
Chinese regulations prohibit various cryptocurrency-related activities, including the raising of funds through tokens, trading platforms and mining operations. In February, the People's Bank of China alongside seven additional regulatory agencies reinforced these prohibitions through a notice that introduced additional restrictions, including the unauthorized creation of stablecoins pegged to the yuan.
