Dunamu Partners with Visa to Develop Stablecoin Payment Solutions and AI-Driven Shopping
Payment giant Visa teams up with Dunamu to develop stablecoin-based payments and cross-border transfers, evaluating multiple projects including Open Standard's OUSD proposal.

Dunamu, the entity behind South Korean digital currency exchange Upbit, has entered into a strategic collaboration with Visa to investigate opportunities in stablecoin-based payment systems, international money transfers, and commerce powered by artificial intelligence technology.
The collaboration will bring together Dunamu's expertise in digital asset infrastructure and Visa's worldwide payment processing capabilities to investigate payment solutions, remittance options, and settlement mechanisms across key global markets, as detailed in an announcement released by Dunamu on Friday.
"The spread of AI, stablecoins and tokenization is a key trend that will change how finance and commerce operate," Dunamu CEO Oh Kyung-seok said, adding that the partnership aims to connect digital assets with traditional finance.
Among the potential business frameworks being evaluated by Dunamu and Visa is the integration of Open Standard's Open USD (OUSD), a stablecoin backed by the U.S. dollar that was introduced to the market in June. According to Open Standard, the OUSD initiative has attracted commitments from over 140 corporations, with notable participants including Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Coinbase and BlackRock. Dunamu clarified that OUSD represents just one of multiple stablecoin initiatives currently being assessed, emphasizing that no particular stablecoin has been designated as the primary focus for this collaboration.
During July, Upbit issued a statement clarifying that it was not taking part in the creation of OUSD, following the identification of its parent organization, Dunamu, among the companies associated with the project.
Additionally, the partnership will investigate the potential of agentic commerce, a technology enabling AI-powered agents to locate products and services while executing purchases and processing payments autonomously on users' behalf. The two organizations will analyze methods to integrate AI capabilities with infrastructure supporting stablecoin-based payment processing and settlement operations.
