Cross-Chain Platform NEAR Intents Hit by $3.8M Security Breach Following Bitget Attack Aid
Following a vulnerability in its deposit and withdrawal infrastructure, the protocol has announced full compensation for all users impacted by the security incident.

A security incident at cross-chain protocol NEAR Intents has led to the unauthorized withdrawal of $3.8 million in user assets.
Through a Thursday statement on X, the protocol revealed that the breach occurred due to a "bug in the Omni deposit and withdrawal infrastructure interaction with NEAR Intents smart contract." The platform announced its commitment to providing full compensation to users for their losses, adding that the "contract-side vulnerability has been patched" to ensure protection against future exploits of this nature.
The incident has been reported to law enforcement, and we are working with security and blockchain analytics partners to trace the funds and pursue recovery. A detailed report will be shared publicly in the following days.
Based on research conducted by blockchain investigator ZachXBT, the stolen assets from the breach were sent to the KuCoin exchange and subsequently bridged to Bitcoin. As of the time of publication, the identity of the perpetrator behind the hack remained unknown.
The security incident occurred shortly after the protocol provided assistance to the Bitget exchange, which experienced a $388 million security breach last week. NEAR Intents disclosed that it successfully blocked $50 million and froze more than $500,000 in funds connected to the attack. Bitget CEO Gracy Chen speculated that North Korean hackers may have been responsible.
