Copper's American Division Achieves SEC Registration and FINRA Membership Status

Following regulatory approval in the United States, Copper Markets US is set to provide institutional custody, staking solutions, financing options, and OTC trading services.

Copper, a provider of digital asset infrastructure solutions, has successfully established its regulated footprint in the United States following the registration of its domestic subsidiary as a broker-dealer with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and its acceptance into the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) membership.

In an announcement made on Wednesday, Copper revealed that Copper Markets (US) Inc. had received approval for FINRA membership, enabling the organization to bring its institutional-grade custody solutions and trading infrastructure to the American marketplace.

Documentation available through FINRA BrokerCheck indicates that Copper Markets received SEC registration approval with an effective date of Aug. 7. The same records list FINRA as the firm's designated self-regulatory organization.

According to Copper, the American division will provide qualified custody services, staking capabilities, financing solutions and over-the-counter trading services, in addition to granting access to its ClearLoop Network, a platform that enables institutional participants to pledge and transfer cryptocurrency and tokenized assets as collateral among counterparties.

The firm characterized this expansion as the establishment of its American operations as a "Qualified Custodian." According to SEC regulations, registered broker-dealers maintaining client assets within customer accounts are eligible to achieve qualified custodian status.
