Chainalysis: Cryptocurrency Remittances from Canada to Asia Jump 141% to Hit $2.36B
Cryptocurrency transfers in remittance amounts from Canada to India, China, and the Philippines totaled $2.36 billion, with Philippine-bound transfers specifically climbing 28% to reach $61 million.

Digital currency transfers in remittance sizes flowing from Canada to the Philippines, India and China experienced a remarkable 141% year-over-year increase to reach $2.36 billion, marking significant growth in digital asset payments throughout these three key remittance pathways.
A newly released Chainalysis report reveals that these three nations represented 194% of all outbound cross-border stablecoin value originating from Canada, a dramatic rise from the 10.9% recorded during the prior year. These transfers comprised 3.56 million individual transactions during the 12-month period concluding in June 2026, with each transaction averaging $663.
Citing exclusive data provided to Cointelegraph, Eric Jardine, head of research at Chainalysis, indicated that cryptocurrency remittances flowing from Canada to the Philippines exclusively totaled $61.02 million spread across 73,564 transactions, marking increases of 28% and 34.7% respectively. This analytical scope encompasses Bitcoin and stablecoins valued above $10,000 moving to and from personal wallets.
Among G7 countries, Chainalysis positioned Canada at the top for peer-to-peer (P2P) crypto economy activity, identifying its substantial foreign-born demographic and the expense associated with conventional remittance services as likely catalysts for adoption.

Foreign-born individuals constitute approximately 23% of Canada's total population, representing the largest proportion among G7 nations, as noted by Morva Rohani, who serves as executive director of the Canadian Web3 Council.

Stablecoins represented 44% of order book volume denominated in Canadian dollars during June, climbing from 30% twelve months prior, according to the report's findings. Chainalysis referenced World Bank calculations that place the typical cost of transmitting funds from Canada at 6.7%, though minimal blockchain settlement charges do not incorporate expenses related to currency conversion and withdrawal to cash.
The analysis additionally discovered that Canada's domestic peer-to-peer activity mirrored fluctuations in its temporary visa-holder population beginning in mid-2021, though Chainalysis emphasized that this relationship appeared correlational instead of causal in nature. Jardine informed Cointelegraph that the company deliberately avoids restricting its examination to only the smallest transfers in order to prevent "omitting real remittance value."
Prior Chainalysis studies determined that worldwide cross-border stablecoin movement increased 77.5% to reach $220.3 billion during the year ending in June.
