Pudgy Penguins discontinues Pudgy Party to concentrate efforts on Pudgy World
The Pudgy Penguins team is discontinuing Pudgy Party development to concentrate resources on Pudgy World, marking yet another Web3 gaming venture that couldn't establish a viable long-term business strategy.

The Pudgy Penguins non-fungible token (NFT) project has announced it will discontinue its mobile gaming title Pudgy Party and cease any additional development efforts.
According to a Saturday announcement on X, the development team revealed plans to redirect gaming development resources exclusively toward Pudgy World, a browser-accessible platform that represents the primary gaming offering within the broader Pudgy Penguins universe.
"We've made the difficult decision to wind down Pudgy Party and halt further development," the team wrote, explaining that Pudgy World presents superior opportunities for growth and expansion while serving as a more effective gateway for introducing newcomers to the Pudgy Penguins brand.
After its August 2025 debut, the mobile gaming application achieved more than 500,000 installations through Google Play exclusively. According to Pudgy Party's official figures, combined downloads across all platforms have crossed the 1 million threshold.
The consolidation of gaming development around one central flagship offering comes as Pudgy Penguins pursues diversification strategies extending well beyond the NFT space, with active projects in toys, gaming development, licensing agreements and entertainment ventures.
NFT market capitalization in aggregate rose to approximately $1.5 billion by Monday from just over $1.3 billion recorded on Friday, per CoinGecko tracking data, though these figures represent a substantial decline from the market's 2022 zenith when valuations exceeded $17 billion.
Web3 gaming projects continue facing challenges in building sustainable revenue models
The shutdown of Pudgy Party follows closely on the heels of similar announcements from Fishing Frenzy, another Web3 gaming initiative, along with its parent developer Uncharted, both of which revealed plans to terminate operations following unsuccessful attempts to build a sustainable cryptocurrency gaming framework.
"Despite our best efforts, we were ultimately unable to prove our thesis on crypto gaming and could not find product-market-business fit," Fishing Frenzy said in an X post on Monday.
According to the development team, the organization dedicated the past twelve months to experimenting with various strategic approaches and targeting different user demographics, but ultimately failed to identify a direction that provided sufficient confidence to justify continued operations.
All Fishing Frenzy server infrastructure will be permanently deactivated on June 25 at 2:00 am UTC. The development team has already discontinued all sales of USDC packages while simultaneously converting its FISH token to a spend-only status that prohibits trading activities.
According to the team's final communications, all remaining USDC currently held within the FISH/USDC liquidity pool will be allocated back to community participants and those who have staked tokens.
