Korbit Cryptocurrency Exchange Set for Digital X Rebrand Following Mirae Acquisition: Sources
South Korea's Korbit exchange will serve as Mirae Asset's central platform for digital finance initiatives including tokenized assets and stablecoins, according to reports.

Korbit, a cryptocurrency exchange based in South Korea, is set to undergo a rebrand to Digital X following its acquisition by Mirae Asset Group, according to recent reports.
Park Hyeon-joo, the founder and global strategy officer of Mirae Asset, revealed the upcoming name change through an internal email sent to staff members on Thursday, Herald Business reported. According to the report, Park characterized Digital X as a cornerstone of the group's "Mirae Asset 3.0" strategic vision, designed to merge digital assets with conventional financial services.
The firm intends to venture into real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, security token offerings, stablecoins and conventional asset products. According to Park, the exchange will place emphasis on anti-money laundering controls, customer verification, information security and fraud detection as the country advances its regulatory framework for crypto and tokenized securities.
The acquisition of a 97% ownership stake in Korbit by Mirae was finalized on Thursday. Following the acquisition, Korbit announced that its current services would remain unchanged and continue operating as usual.
