Crypto Companies Including Sharplink and Forward Industries Eye Potential Russell Index Addition

Galaxy Digital and Bitmine could qualify for Russell 1000 inclusion, joining the ranks of America's top 1,000 corporations alongside tech leaders like Nvidia, Microsoft and Apple.

Several cryptocurrency-focused businesses have appeared on a tentative roster for possible addition to the Russell 3000 index, featuring treasury companies Sharplink and Forward Industries, cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, and digital asset services provider Galaxy Digital.

The index provider FTSE Russell released a tentative inclusion roster for the Russell 3000 on Friday. This benchmark index monitors the 3,000 most valuable US-based corporations and mandates a minimum market capitalization threshold of $146.4 million.

With a market capitalization standing at $1.2 billion, Sharplink's chief executive officer Joseph Chalom noted in a Tuesday announcement that this valuation positions the organization for potential entry into the Russell 2000, a benchmark monitoring the top 2,000 publicly listed American corporations.

Being added to these indexes is commonly regarded as highly beneficial for companies that make the cut, given that numerous active and passive investment vehicles, such as exchange-traded funds, routinely purchase equities featured in these benchmarks.

According to Chalom, securing a position within the Russell indexes would expand the organization's investor base and enhance its ability to access capital markets.

Chief investment officer of Forward Industries, Ryan Navi, indicated that the Solana treasury firm also meets the criteria for Russell 2000 Index inclusion, given its approximately $350 million market capitalization.

We believe index inclusion will expand our shareholder base, improve trading liquidity, and increase visibility among long-term institutional investors.

Additional roster revisions from FTSE Russell are scheduled for release on June 5, June 12 and June 18. The updated and reconstituted indexes will become effective following the conclusion of US market trading on June 26.

Bitmine Immersion Technologies, an Ether treasury firm, appeared on the tentative roster for potential Russell 3000 index membership. The company's chairman Tom Lee highlighted the possibility of Russell 1000 inclusion, a benchmark that monitors America's largest 1,000 corporations, citing Bitmine's market capitalization exceeding the index's $5.7 billion minimum threshold requirement.

With its market capitalization of $11.55 billion, Galaxy Digital also qualifies for Russell 1000 consideration, whereas Gemini's approximate $571 million valuation positions it for potential Russell 2000 inclusion.

Securing Russell 1000 membership would position both Galaxy and Bitmine among prominent US large-capitalization stocks, including technology sector leaders Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple, and Alphabet, which serves as Google's parent company.
