$103M flows into Bitcoin ETFs as October trading begins
US Bitcoin exchange-traded funds secured $103 million in fresh capital as the cryptocurrency surged past $85,000 to begin October trading, while Ethereum ETFs continued their outflow trend for a third consecutive session.

Exchange-traded funds tracking spot Bitcoin prices in the United States reversed course to post net inflows when October's first trading session commenced, coming off the heels of their most successful quarter in 2026.
The Bitcoin-focused ETFs pulled in $102.7 million in net inflows during Thursday's trading, reversing the previous day's $148.7 million in net outflows, data from SoSoValue indicates. The total net assets held by these funds climbed to $109.3 billion, with aggregate net inflows now standing at $57.6 billion.
This encouraging beginning to the new month came on the heels of $6.34 billion worth of net inflows recorded during the third quarter, with September alone accounting for $2.65 billion. The flagship cryptocurrency surged 42.71% throughout the three-month period.
At publication time, Bitcoin was changing hands at approximately $85,900, reflecting a 2.1% gain during the preceding 24-hour period, CoinGecko data shows. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index maintained by Alternative.me declined to 72 from the prior day's reading of 74, though it stayed within "Greed" zone parameters.
Spot Ether ETFs operating in the United States registered $55.4 million in net outflows during Thursday's session. These investment vehicles have experienced approximately $118 million in withdrawals spanning three back-to-back trading days.
ETFs tracking Solana also experienced roughly $6 million in net outflows on Thursday, marking a second straight session of capital withdrawals, whereas XRP-based ETFs secured $4 million in net inflows.
