Tokenized equities move deeper into crypto platforms

This spike in activity arrives as cryptocurrency platforms roll out innovative methods for investors to trade, retain and utilize tokenized equities through blockchain technology.

On Aug. 24, tokenized US stocks from Coinbase became operational on Base, enabling qualified users outside the United States to conduct transactions with these assets continuously and leverage them within decentralized finance applications. The B20 tokens encompass corporations such as Nvidia, Apple, Meta and Alphabet and are compatible with self-custody wallets.

One day following that launch, Bitwise introduced automated investment portfolios constructed from Coinbase's tokenized stocks, enabling qualified investors outside the US to implement predetermined strategies while maintaining the underlying assets within their personal wallets. The initial portfolio offerings focus on the "Magnificent Seven," robotics and artificial intelligence sectors.

Additional platforms have similarly broadened the utility of tokenized stocks. During July, Bybit incorporated tokenized shares of Nvidia, Apple, Tesla and additional US corporations as acceptable collateral for margin loans, whereas Arcus, a DEX supported by Robinhood, introduced more than 95 stock tokens and perpetual markets on Robinhood Chain.
