October Sees Ether ETFs Hemorrhage Over $1 Billion in Withdrawals
Spot Ether exchange-traded funds in the United States have experienced outflows exceeding $1.08 billion through October, marking 2026's largest monthly withdrawal period, as Bitcoin ETF contributions decelerated following a Monday surge.

United States spot Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) continued their capital hemorrhaging trend, with total withdrawals now exceeding the $1 billion threshold through the current month of October.
According to data provided by SoSoValue, net outflows from Ether ETFs have reached a total of $1.08 billion since October began, despite gaining $26 million during Tuesday's trading session. These monthly withdrawals have completely wiped out the $832 million in net inflows that were recorded during September, bringing the cumulative year-to-date net inflows down to approximately $485 million.
With eight trading sessions remaining in the month, October has already established itself as the period with the highest monthly net outflow figures since November 2025.
The withdrawal pattern aligned with Ether's decline of 9.7% during October, dropping from $2,700 down to $2,438 as of the time of publication. Data from CoinGecko indicates that ETH has declined by nearly 18% across the entirety of 2026.
In contrast, Bitcoin ETFs saw net inflows of $23 million during Tuesday's session, supplementing the $527 million that flowed in on Monday.
According to SoSoValue's tracking, US spot Bitcoin ETFs have experienced approximately $67 million in net outflows throughout October, which reduces the year's cumulative net inflows to roughly $809 million.
At the time of publication, Bitcoin was trading at a price of $82,954, representing a 2.2% decrease since Oct. 1 and a 5.3% decline year-to-date.
