Nairobi Securities Exchange Partners with Tether on Blockchain Tokenization Initiative
A memorandum of understanding has been executed between Tether and the Nairobi Securities Exchange to investigate tokenized securities, blockchain infrastructure implementation and the possibility of USDT settlement integration.

A memorandum of understanding has been executed between Tether and the Nairobi Securities Exchange, establishing a framework to investigate tokenized securities, blockchain-powered market infrastructure solutions and the prospective deployment of USDt (USDT) as a settlement layer mechanism.
In an announcement released on Tuesday, Tether revealed that the memorandum establishes a roadmap to investigate blockchain-powered market infrastructure solutions, digital asset educational initiatives and the tokenization of real-world assets, which includes the prospective deployment of its Hadron tokenization platform for the issuance and exchange of tokenized securities instruments.
The memorandum further specifies that both parties will evaluate instant settlement mechanisms alongside the prospective deployment of USDT as a digital settlement infrastructure layer, subject to compliance with Kenyan regulatory frameworks.
This agreement emerges at a time when tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) are experiencing continued momentum in the market. The onchain value of the sector has expanded to approximately $36.8 billion, when stablecoins are excluded from the calculation, based on data from RWA.xyz.
Separately, RWA.xyz monitors nearly $298 billion in stablecoins, which certain market participants categorize as RWAs due to the fact that they represent claims on offchain reserve assets. With a market capitalization of approximately $184 billion, USDT holds the position as the world's largest stablecoin.
