Etherlink and tokenized uranium assets now available through Anchorage custody services

The US-based Anchorage Digital Bank has broadened its institutional custody portfolio to encompass Etherlink along with seven distinct assets operating on the layer-2 Tezos network, notably featuring xU3O8, a digital token backed by physical uranium holdings.

Holding the distinction as the United States' inaugural federally chartered cryptocurrency bank, Anchorage Digital Bank has expanded its custody capabilities to encompass Etherlink alongside seven distinct assets operating on the layer-2 Tezos network, featuring xU3O8, a digital token that represents ownership of physical uranium reserves.

Additional assets now under custody support comprise wrapped XTZ (WXTZ), the liquid staking token stXTZ, multiple stablecoins including USDT, USDC and USDSM, as well as wrapped Ether (WETH), as detailed in an official announcement provided to Cointelegraph.

This new integration enables institutional clients of Anchorage to maintain custody of assets created on Etherlink, a layer-2 network compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine that uses Tezos for settlement, utilizing segregated accounts provided by the federally chartered banking institution.

The xU3O8 token provides representation of physical uranium ownership, offering investors the ability to gain commodity exposure while avoiding the complexities of direct handling or physical storage requirements. Based on current trading prices, the token maintains a market capitalization slightly exceeding $9 million, according to data from CoinMarketCap.

The distinction of being the first institutional custodian supporting xU3O8 does not belong to Anchorage. Back in August 2025, Hex Trust, a digital asset custody provider, implemented Etherlink integration to deliver custody services for xU3O8 alongside other digital assets launched on the network.

According to Anchorage, gaining exposure to physical uranium through traditional channels has historically required engagement with specialist intermediaries, enduring extended settlement timeframes and meeting relatively substantial minimum investment thresholds. The financial institution emphasized that tokenization enables the commodity to undergo transfer and settlement processes within minutes instead of the weeks typically required through conventional methods.
