Zcash ETF from Grayscale to Execute 3-for-1 Stock Split

The upcoming 3-for-1 forward share split for Grayscale's Zcash ETF is designed to enhance price accessibility for investors

A recent filing submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission reveals that Grayscale's Zcash ETF (ZCSH) intends to proceed with a 3-for-1 forward share split.

The filing indicates that when trading concludes on Sept. 28, existing shareholders will be granted two additional shares for every single share currently in their possession.

A press release issued by Grayscale explains that the forward split should result in a reduction of the fund's per-share price, while simultaneously generating a proportional expansion in the total number of outstanding shares.

To illustrate this concept, the release explained that if an investor possessed 10 shares with a value of $300 per share, totaling $3,000 prior to the split, following the split that same investor would hold 30 shares priced at $100 each, maintaining the same overall value of $3,000.

The purpose of this split is to enhance accessibility to the ETF for a broader range of investors, particularly because the token has experienced an extraordinary appreciation of approximately 2,800% throughout the past year, resulting in a per-unit price that had become prohibitively high for many potential investors.

On Thursday, Cointelegraph published a report indicating that Zcash (ZEC), a digital currency that provides users with the ability to conduct shielded transactions that hide both addresses and transaction values through the use of zero-knowledge proofs, had experienced approximately 20% gains during a 24-hour period following Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang's revelation that the cryptocurrency investment firm had completed a purchase of ZEC of an undisclosed amount.

In his comments, Huang characterized Zcash as serving as a "private complement to Bitcoin" while also expressing his support for its developer fund, making the case that sustained long-term funding continues to be crucial as artificial intelligence-driven cyber capabilities and quantum computing technologies continue their rapid advancement.

According to a report from The Block, the ZEC token issued by Zcash surged to a peak of $1,521 during the early hours of Friday, representing what analysts would characterize as a new effective all-time high, though the price subsequently retreated modestly from that level.
