US Bitcoin ETFs Experience $635M Exodus as October Returns to Negative Territory

Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the United States experienced outflows totaling $635.5 million on Thursday, marking the largest single-day withdrawal since June 25 and breaking a three-day positive streak that brought in $1.08 billion.

Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the United States witnessed net outflows totaling $635 million on Thursday, driving October's cumulative flows back into negative territory.

The significant withdrawals completely wiped out the previous day's $528 million in net inflows and pushed October's overall net outflows to $175 million, based on data provided by SoSoValue.

The magnitude of Thursday's outflows represents the most substantial single-day net withdrawal since June 25, when Bitcoin ETFs experienced losses of $696 million. These withdrawals brought an end to a three-day positive inflow streak that had successfully attracted $1.08 billion in fresh capital.

Despite Thursday's setback, Bitcoin ETFs maintained weekly net inflows of $443 million. The investment vehicles had experienced two straight weeks of withdrawals prior to this recovery.

Bitcoin's price fluctuated within a range of $80,996 and $82,551 throughout Thursday's trading session, representing a decline from Wednesday's intraday peak of $84,777. BTC was changing hands at approximately $81,783 at the time of publication, reflecting a decrease of roughly 1% over the preceding 24 hours, as reported by CoinGecko.

Alternative cryptocurrency ETFs similarly experienced predominantly negative capital flows on Thursday. Ether ETFs registered approximately $111 million in net outflows, while Solana ETFs followed with roughly $9 million and Hyperliquid (HYPE) ETFs recorded about $8 million in withdrawals. XRP ETFs stood as the exception to this pattern, drawing in around $3.6 million in positive inflows.
