Survey Reveals Majority of U.S. Citizens Disapprove of Trump Family Cryptocurrency Ventures
Well before President Donald Trump revealed his earnings of $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency-related ventures in 2025, a significant portion of the American public had already raised questions about the appropriateness of the president's digital asset holdings.

Recent polling data from Reuters/Ipsos has revealed that most survey participants across the United States view it as inappropriate for President Donald Trump and members of his family to profit from cryptocurrency-related investments during his time in the White House.
The survey, which questioned 1,166 individuals from Aug. 14-17, showed that 63% of participants deemed it inappropriate for the Trump family to generate income through digital asset investments. The responses varied significantly based on political affiliation, with 69% of Republican participants expressing support for such investments as appropriate, while a stark 92% of Democratic respondents expressed disapproval.
Documents released in June by the US Office of Government Ethics revealed that President Trump generated $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency-related investments throughout 2025, with income streams including his family's World Liberty Financial venture and his memecoin project, Official Trump (TRUMP). When asked to comment on potential conflicts regarding Trump's digital asset holdings, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly has consistently maintained that "no conflicts of interest" exist.
Multiple members of Congress have demanded investigations and requested additional disclosures from federal agencies concerning World Liberty and the broader Trump family investment portfolio. During July, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced the introduction of proposed legislation aimed at establishing a federal agency dedicated to combating corruption at the national level, specifically highlighting the president's "various, and extremely lucrative, cryptocurrency ventures."
During a White House press conference held on Wednesday, President Trump addressed cryptocurrency matters before an audience that included numerous chief executive officers and prominent figures from the digital asset industry. Both the president and industry representatives urged Senate lawmakers to approve the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, proposed legislation designed to define clear regulatory responsibilities among US government agencies overseeing the digital asset sector. A cloture vote on the measure is set to take place on Sept. 15.
