S&P 500 perpetual product launches on Kraken's prop trading platform, commodity assets coming soon
The cryptocurrency exchange's proprietary trading initiative expands with 24/7 access to America's leading stock index as part of its growing multi-asset strategy.

The cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, headquartered in the United States, has introduced a perpetual S&P 500 product to its proprietary funded trading initiative, providing qualified traders with continuous access to America's primary equity index around the clock.
As detailed in a Wednesday blog post published by the company, this offering is constructed as a perpetual instrument that derives its pricing from an index oracle monitoring the S&P 500, distinguishing it from conventional futures contracts by eliminating expiration dates and the necessity for rolling positions forward.
Within Kraken Prop, the S&P 500 becomes the second conventional financial market alongside the Nasdaq 100, while the platform operator has outlined plans to incorporate commodities into the program as it executes its comprehensive multi-asset expansion strategy. The S&P 500 market is accessible to participants using both evaluation and funded trading accounts provided by Kraken Prop, offering leverage capabilities of up to 5x and permitting maximum notional position sizes reaching $1 million, the company confirmed.
The Kraken Prop program enables aspiring traders to buy an evaluation opportunity and, upon successfully satisfying the program's performance criteria, become eligible to execute trades utilizing Kraken's proprietary capital. The evaluation plans are available with entry prices beginning at $20, while successfully qualified funded accounts provide trading capital allocations spanning from $5,000 up to $200,000.
This product introduction comes after Kraken's July initiative that provided retail market participants with opportunities to participate in Jersey Mike's initial public offering via direct share distributions within the US and through tokenized equity shares made available across more than 110 international markets, demonstrating the platform's ongoing commitment to diversifying into traditional finance offerings.
