Securitize Capital achieves SEC investment adviser registration status
The new registration marks a significant expansion of Securitize's regulated tokenized asset platform, incorporating investment advisory services into its suite of institutional offerings.
Securitize Capital, operating as a subsidiary of the tokenized asset platform Securitize, has successfully completed its registration with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as an investment adviser, a move that enables the firm to broaden its regulated investment advisory operations for institutional clients, according to an announcement from Securitize on Monday.
The newly acquired registration introduces investment advisory functionalities to Securitize's comprehensive suite of regulated business operations, which already encompasses an SEC-registered broker-dealer, an alternative trading system, transfer agent services, and fund administration capabilities.
According to CEO Carlos Domingo, the registration enhances Securitize's capacity to assist institutional clients in developing and managing their investment strategies within onchain capital markets. Prior to this development, Securitize Capital had been functioning as an exempt reporting adviser and will now be subject to enhanced disclosure, compliance, recordkeeping and examination requirements mandated by the Investment Advisers Act.
Securitize holds the position as the largest tokenization platform measured by onchain asset value, managing approximately $4.8 billion in tokenized assets spanning funds from prominent asset managers including BlackRock, Apollo, KKR, VanEck, Hamilton Lane and numerous other institutional players.
The company commenced trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol SECZ on July 2 following the completion of a merger transaction with Cantor Equity Partners II. Stock shares have subsequently declined approximately 46% from their initial day closing price.
