Moov and Coinbase Join Forces to Deliver Stablecoin Services to American Community Financial Institutions
More than 1,000 credit unions and community banks will gain access to stablecoin settlement, acceptance, and instant funding infrastructure through this collaboration.

Financial technology platform Moov has formed a strategic alliance with digital currency exchange Coinbase to deliver comprehensive stablecoin infrastructure to the more than 1,000 credit unions and community banks currently served within Moov's extensive client network.
According to an announcement released on Thursday, this collaboration will integrate Coinbase's compliant digital asset framework with Moov's payment processing platform to deliver stablecoin payment acceptance capabilities, settlement services, and instant funding solutions.
The newly established infrastructure is designed to enable various applications including stablecoin payments from consumers, settlement solutions for merchants, and payout mechanisms. Additionally, the platform will grant merchants and businesses the ability to utilize Coinbase custodial account services.
In the United States, community banks are generally characterized as institutions maintaining total assets below $10 billion, encompassing both state chartered banking entities and savings and loan holding companies.
This development arrives at a time when several of the nation's largest banking institutions are actively exploring stablecoin infrastructure solutions. Just one day prior, on Wednesday, U.S. Bank, which ranks as the fifth-largest commercial bank in the US, successfully executed a live international payment transaction utilizing its own USBDC stablecoin operating on the Stellar blockchain network.
In developments from earlier this month, a consortium of 21 financial institutions, which includes major players such as Bank of America, Citi, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank and UBS, revealed their intentions to establish a new company dedicated to issuing stablecoins, with plans to launch a US dollar-denominated stablecoin during the first half of 2027.
Competition from non-banking entities is also emerging within the stablecoin market space. Back in August, Western Union formed a strategic partnership with stablecoin infrastructure specialist Rain to introduce a digital wallet solution and Visa-branded card product that allows users to store and make purchases using a US dollar-backed stablecoin.
