Exchange Deposits Surge Past 6 Billion XRP in 30 Days While Large Holders Step Back

Large XRP holders demonstrate minimal appetite for accumulation at present price levels while token deposits to exchanges reach seven-month peaks.

Exchange deposits of XRP have reached their highest point in seven months, with more than 6 billion tokens flowing onto trading platforms over the past 30 days.

Key points:

  • Exchange deposits measured on a rolling 30-day basis reached 6 billion XRP tokens on October 19, marking the highest level observed in seven months.
  • Whale withdrawals from exchanges, measured as a 90-day moving average, declined to $49.7 million—the lowest reading in five years—while market observers note diminished interest in the XRP/USDT trading pair.
  • October has witnessed a 41% decline in the realized profit/loss ratio as market conditions return to range-bound trading patterns.

Large Holder Activity Declines While Exchange Deposits Rise: Data Analysis

Recent data from blockchain analytics provider CryptoQuant indicates that XRP deposits to exchanges have climbed to their highest levels since March when measured on a rolling 30-day timeframe.

For the 30-day period ending October 19, total deposits reached 6.05 billion XRP, representing a doubling of inflows since the middle of August. Throughout this period, the XRP/USD trading pair climbed from approximately $1 to reach a peak of $1.70 before pulling back to current trading levels near $1.30.

The rise in total inflows to more than 6 billion XRP, reaching a seven-month high, signals a clear shift in asset movement toward exchanges. This could reflect increased trading activity and liquidity on these platforms, or a rise in the movement of XRP between wallets and exchanges.

Additional data examining whale withdrawals from exchanges indicates that XRP is "attracting less and less attention." According to CryptoQuant's assessment, institutional-scale investors appear to be holding back, potentially awaiting more favorable entry points before expanding their positions.

The 90-day moving average for whale withdrawals peaked at $3.5 billion during February 2025, shortly following XRP's record high price of $3.40. From that peak, whale withdrawal activity has plummeted 98.6%, with the 90-day moving average currently sitting at $49.7 million. This represents the lowest reading recorded since October 2021.

From a long-term perspective, this suggests XRP could lack buying volume without whale support.

The analytics platform CryptoQuant noted XRP's "notable resilience" throughout the 2026 cryptocurrency bear market cycle.

Sideways Bitcoin Trading Reduces Profit-Taking Pressure

Blockchain data analysis confirms that Bitcoin market participants have similarly adopted a wait-and-see approach during October as BTC/USD has remained confined to a trading range spanning $80,000 to $87,000.

According to Glassnode's latest Market Pulse report published on Monday, Bitcoin investors have significantly reduced profit-taking activities. The realized profit/loss ratio contracted from 0.8 to 0.4, representing a 50% decline over the most recent seven-day period.

This contrast demonstrates that profit realized activity cooled relative to loss realization onchain, highlighting a transition toward more subdued sentiment and diminished aggressive spending by market participants.
