ESMA adds dozen firms to MiCA registry in fourth update following transition period

The European watchdog's newest MiCA revision increases authorized crypto service providers to 321 while including three additional non-compliant entities.

In its fourth revision following the transitional period that concluded on July 1, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has incorporated 12 additional firms into its Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory registry.

The update, which was released on July 31, elevates the aggregate count of registered crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) operating under MiCA regulations to 321. Among the newly registered entities are three cooperative banking institutions based in Germany: Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Oberbayern Südost, VR Bank Schleswig-Holstein Mitte and VR-Bank Landau-Mengkofen.

Additionally, the registry features two Spanish entities — Basque Pay and Fintech Payments — alongside four French companies — Finary, Woorton, Blockchain Process Security and Shares Financial Assets.

The regulatory update from ESMA has also incorporated three additional entities into its register of non-compliant organizations: Cervo Rendisco, Flandenzo and Corona Fondenza, which were identified by Italy's financial market regulator, the Commissione Nazionale per le Società e la Borsa (CONSOB). With these additions, the non-compliant entities register has reached a total of 167 entries.

Other MiCA-related registries remained unchanged in this most recent update. The count of registered e-money token (EMT) issuers continues to stand at 41, whereas the register for asset-referenced token (ART) issuers still shows no entries at present.
