Coinbase and Bitwise Partner to Offer Self-Custody Tokenized Equity Portfolios

Non-US investors can now access automatically rebalanced portfolios of tokenized stocks from Coinbase while maintaining full control over their assets in personal wallets, thanks to Bitwise's innovative offering.

A new product from Bitwise Asset Management enables qualified investors based outside the United States to participate in automated portfolio strategies using Coinbase's tokenized US equity offerings, all while maintaining custody of their assets in self-managed wallets.

The new offering leverages the tokenized stock products recently introduced by Coinbase, with Glider providing automated rebalancing services to align users' token holdings with model portfolios created by Bitwise, as revealed in an announcement made on Tuesday.

Three distinct strategies are available at launch the Mag7X, robotics and AI leaders and include Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, Tesla and SpaceX.

The aggregate value of tokenized listed stocks has reached $2.49 billion, reflecting a 5.18% increase over the past month, with 2.25 million holders and $27.28 billion in monthly transfer volume, according to rwa.xyz.

Differentiating this offering from conventional fund structures, the tokenized equities stay within users' self-custody wallets, with Bitwise responsible for establishing the portfolio methodology and Glider executing trades and rebalancing operations. A methodology access fee of 0.15% is charged by Bitwise, which does not include trading and Glider platform fees.

Due to users maintaining ownership of the individual tokens, Bitwise noted the assets could additionally be deployed in DeFi applications for lending or borrowing, though subject to the risks of those protocols.

This product introduction follows one day after Coinbase's tokenized US stocks became available on Base, providing eligible non-US users with the ability to trade the assets around the clock and use them across DeFi applications.
