Chainlink integration brings reserve verification to Wyoming's FRNT stablecoin

The state of Wyoming has integrated Chainlink's infrastructure to enable near-real-time onchain verification of reserves for its FRNT stable token, marking another expansion for the oracle provider in tokenized finance.

Wyoming, a US state at the forefront of cryptocurrency regulation, is implementing near-real-time reserve verification onchain for its Frontier Stable Token by expanding its partnership with Chainlink, a leading blockchain oracle network.

On Wednesday, the Wyoming Stable Token Commission announced its adoption of Chainlink Proof of Reserve to deliver verified information regarding FRNT's reserves and circulating token supply directly onchain. The solution merges independent audits conducted by The Network Firm with Chainlink's technological infrastructure to deliver this information in near real time.

While Wyoming currently publishes reserve attestations for FRNT on a daily basis, the GENIUS Act mandates monthly public disclosures detailing reserve composition and the total supply of outstanding stablecoins. According to the commission, this new integration will offer more immediate transparency regarding fluctuations in FRNT's underlying assets during intervals between scheduled reporting periods.

Additionally, the commission is pursuing adoption of Chainlink's Secure Mint functionality, a feature that would mandate confirmed reserves to match or surpass FRNT's aggregate supply prior to the minting of additional tokens.

FRNT made its debut in January and maintains backing through US dollars alongside short-term US Treasury securities, with interest earnings derived from these reserves being channeled into Wyoming's School Foundation Program.

This development follows approximately two weeks after Wyoming completed the full migration of FRNT away from LayerZero to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, establishing CCIP as the singular cross-chain infrastructure solution for the token.

Chainlink expands institutional footprint

In recent months, Chainlink has secured numerous integrations spanning tokenized equity products, stablecoin settlement systems and conventional financial market infrastructure.

In the latest development, Chainlink was selected as the pricing-data provider for Coinbase's B20 tokenized equity products after their launch on Base in August. The data feeds encompass equities such as Apple, Nvidia, Meta and Alphabet, enabling DeFi protocols to accurately value these tokens for applications including lending, trading and use as collateral.

During June, Chainlink participated in Project Pangea alongside European and South Korean banking consortiums, an initiative investigating the deployment of regulated euro- and won-denominated stablecoins to facilitate atomic foreign exchange settlement between the two geographic regions.

The oracle provider's expansion into conventional financial infrastructure has also encompassed collaboration with the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC), which announced in May its intention to integrate Chainlink technology into a forthcoming around-the-clock platform designed for managing tokenized collateral. During that same month, Fidelity International introduced a tokenized liquidity fund utilizing Chainlink and Sygnum infrastructure, with JPMorgan contributing daily net asset value data for accurate pricing.

Chainlink's native LINK token has experienced gains exceeding 34% throughout the past month, with trading activity around $11.07 on Wednesday, based on CoinGecko data.
