Bridge Secures MiCA Registration in EU Following Luxembourg Regulatory Green Light

The most recent MiCA register update from ESMA incorporates Bridge alongside three German CASPs, with ART authorizations and non-compliant listings remaining static.

The Luxembourg-domiciled entity Bridge Building, which operates the stablecoin infrastructure platform Bridge owned by Stripe, has secured a position on the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) register following the completion of Luxembourg's regulatory approval process.

With Bridge's registration, the European Union's MiCA register now contains 42 authorized electronic money token (EMT) issuers, based on the most recent data released by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) this Wednesday.

This registration occurred several weeks following Bridge's July 2 announcement regarding its successful acquisition of both a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorization under the MiCA framework and an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) licence granted by Luxembourg's Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier. According to Mai Leduc Blount, Bridge's Head of Product, these regulatory approvals enable European Union businesses to develop stablecoin and payment solutions within a properly regulated environment.

In the identical ESMA update, three additional CASP registrations from Germany were included: Volksbank Die Gestalterbank, VBU Volksbank im Unterland and VR-Bank Erding, pushing the complete count of authorized CASPs within the EU register to a total of 324.

According to the update, asset-referenced token authorizations experienced no modifications, with the ART issuer list remaining empty. The registry of non-compliant crypto asset companies similarly showed no alterations.

In recent weeks, ESMA has been issuing more regular updates to its MiCA register, with multiple revisions occurring throughout July.
