Thursday White House Meeting Set Between Trump and Senators on CLARITY Act: Report

President Donald Trump has scheduled a meeting with multiple senators for Thursday as legislators work urgently to advance the CLARITY Act ahead of the Senate's August recess deadline.

President Donald Trump has arranged a White House meeting with multiple senators scheduled for Thursday to review developments on the cryptocurrency market structure legislation.

Politico reports that Senator Bernie Moreno revealed a delegation of senators will provide the president with an update on the legislation and discuss "its path to success." A Senate Republican aide confirmed that Senator Cynthia Lummis will be among those attending the meeting.

"We'll be talking about the entirety of the bill. I mean, obviously the president's been very engaged in this bill," Moreno stated. "He's the one who's really driven the innovation that I think will pay dividends."

This scheduled meeting arrives as members of Congress work intensively to advance the cryptocurrency market structure legislation, referred to as the CLARITY Act, prior to the Senate's scheduled August recess. Numerous legislators view this timeframe as the final viable window to secure passage of the bill ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

"I'm hoping that we can come up with some agreement by the end of this week," Senator Thom Tillis, who has been actively involved in resolving the CLARITY Act's outstanding provisions, stated to Politico.

"I think it's critical if we're going to try and get this across the floor before August recess."

Members of Congress are currently waiting for an updated version of the proposed legislation.

During a Fox Business interview conducted on Wednesday, Lummis indicated that an updated draft version of the legislation will be presented within the coming days and anticipates it will reach the Senate floor for consideration next week.

Cointelegraph has contacted Senator Lummis's office requesting additional comment.
