Singapore Coinbase workforce set for 25% boost in expansion drive: sources
The cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is targeting growth of approximately 50 employees at its Singapore operations, aiming to increase staff from 150 to around 200 by late 2026 in the Lion City.

According to reports, digital currency trading platform Coinbase intends to strengthen its footprint in Singapore through workforce expansion, targeting an increase from its current 150 employees to approximately 200 personnel by the conclusion of 2026.
In an interview with the Business Times, Hassan Ahmed, Coinbase's country director for Singapore, revealed that the digital asset exchange is primarily focused on recruiting additional engineers, customer service personnel, relationship management professionals, and institutional sales representatives for its Singapore headquarters, which commenced operations at One Raffles Quay on Wednesday.
According to Ahmed's statements, Singapore is progressively establishing itself as a critical center for digital currency advancement and innovation. The exchange secured a major payment institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the nation's central banking authority, in October 2023, which authorized the platform to broaden its service offerings to both individual and institutional clients in Singapore.
At the time of publication, Coinbase had not provided a response to Cointelegraph's request for comment.
Under a regulatory framework supervised by the MAS, Singapore provides licenses to digital payment token service providers. As of Thursday, the central bank's official directory showed 38 licensed entities operating in this space.
In 2025, the MAS implemented stricter licensing requirements, which resulted in unlicensed companies exiting the market.
