July Brings Positive Returns for Bitcoin ETFs Amid Month-End Volatility
Despite experiencing significant withdrawals during the final days of July, spot Bitcoin ETFs listed in the United States managed to secure $172.4 million in monthly inflows, breaking a two-month losing streak.

Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) trading on US markets concluded the month of July with positive net flows, overcoming a surge of late-month redemptions and fluctuations in BTC pricing.
The Bitcoin ETF sector drew in a total of $172.4 million in net inflows throughout July, breaking a pattern of two straight months showing outflows, based on information compiled by SoSoValue.
These monthly gains materialized even as July ended on a turbulent note, with the investment vehicles experiencing $265.4 million in net outflows on Friday alone, representing the most significant single-day exodus since July 13.
The shift back to positive flows in July offered some relief for Bitcoin ETF performance following approximately $7 billion in aggregate outflows across the two prior months, with June recording 2026's steepest monthly decline at $4.5 billion. Nevertheless, the weak conclusion to the month demonstrated that market participants continued to exercise caution as August approached.
Year-to-date performance shows Bitcoin ETFs down $5.29 billion in 2026
While July brought modest positive inflows, spot Bitcoin ETFs trading on US exchanges have accumulated roughly $5.3 billion in net outflows for the year through July's end.
Only three months in 2026—March, April and July—generated positive results, collectively bringing in approximately $3.46 billion in inflows, whereas January, February, May and June combined for outflows approaching $8.75 billion.
Nevertheless, the investment products have accumulated $51.32 billion in total net inflows since their initial launch, with aggregate net assets reaching $76.29 billion as July came to a close.
After experiencing three straight weeks of positive flows, weekly performance shifted back into negative territory toward month's end, as Bitcoin ETFs registered an outflow of $61.53 million during the week that concluded on July 31.
Ether ETFs close July maintaining four consecutive weeks of inflows
As Bitcoin ETFs confronted fresh waves of selling pressure during July's final days, certain alternative cryptocurrency ETFs demonstrated more consistent inflow patterns.
Ether ETFs emerged as a standout performer, achieving four straight weeks of positive inflows and concluding July with net inflows totaling $365.2 million, per data from SoSoValue.
These inflows represented the second positive month for Ether ETFs in 2026 to date, following April's $356 million in net inflows. However, even with this recent improvement, the investment vehicles continued to show approximately $1.1 billion in net outflows on a year-to-date basis.
XRP ETFs similarly demonstrated consistent investor interest, attracting $27.3 million in inflows during July and notching their fifth month of positive performance in 2026. Year to date, these products have accumulated roughly $343 million in net inflows, positioning them among the top-performing crypto ETF segments throughout the current year.
