Bitpanda Partnership Brings Crypto Services to Raiffeisen Banks in 11 Countries

Through a collaboration with Bitpanda, Raiffeisen network banks will gain access to cryptocurrency infrastructure, opening digital asset trading to approximately 18 million clients.

An Austrian banking group operating throughout Central and Eastern Europe, Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI), is broadening its cryptocurrency initiatives via a comprehensive collaboration with Bitpanda across its entire network.

The digital asset infrastructure will be supplied by Bitpanda Enterprise, enabling network banks within RBI to launch cryptocurrency services that could become available to approximately 18 million customers, as stated in a Wednesday joint announcement. The companies indicated that each bank within the network will make independent decisions regarding their service offerings and deployment timelines according to their respective local regulatory frameworks and market conditions.

Michael Höllerer, RBI CEO, stated that the financial institution is witnessing increased appetite for cryptocurrency assets throughout its operational markets and is responding to this demand through its partnership with Bitpanda.

As a customer-centric bank, we are committed to meeting our customers' needs in the best possible way.

In a statement to Cointelegraph, a Bitpanda spokesperson explained that the implementation is currently in its initial phases and will advance incrementally in accordance with local regulatory frameworks and market conditions, with additional information to be disclosed as specific markets receive confirmation.

This collaboration represents an expansion of a cryptocurrency integration that was initially introduced with Raiffeisenlandesbank Niederösterreich-Wien in Austria during 2024.

Operating under authorization from the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), Bitpanda informed Cointelegraph that it maintains ongoing conversations with banking institutions and financial organizations interested in cryptocurrency brokerage services, though it would not provide details regarding active negotiations or confidential discussions.
